North Carolina Roadrunners Club

Come Run With Us

Welcome to NCRC
Welcome to the North Carolina Roadrunners Club, commonly known as NCRC! We're a nonprofit organization that's a member club of the Road Runners Club of America, one of 23 RRCA clubs in North Carolina. We're based in Raleigh, where our club began in 1979 (see the About NCRC tab for more details). NCRC hosts three races each year, ranging in length from 5K to half-marathon, and holds two annual fund-raising events (see the NCRC Races/Events tab for details). Benefits of becoming a club member include race and in-store discounts, a bimonthly online newsletter, and a member rewards program. We also hold social runs and other events throughout the year (see the Calendar tab). All runners and walkers are welcome to join us! If you're new to the Triangle, check out Triangle Running Websites under the Resources tab.
Durham Dinner and Documentary — Saturday, June 17
Andrea Lytle Peet, the Raleigh woman who became the first person with ALS to complete a marathon in all 50 states, spoke at NCRC's September meeting along with her husband David. "Go On, Be Brave," a documentary about her story, premiered in February and will be shown at the Carolina Theater in Durham on June 17. NCRC is planning a dinner and movie outing for the documentary. You should buy your movie tickets in advance (you save money by ordering by phone instead of online). For those interested in dinner, we'll start at 5:30 p.m. at the Neomonde Mediterranean restaurant (see the Calendar entry for addresses) before heading to the 7 p.m. movie. If you're just coming for the movie, you can meet us outside the theater at 6:45 p.m.

State Farmers Market Social Run — June 24
For our June social run, we're going to try a location we haven't run from in three years: the State Farmers Market in Raleigh. That will serve as our meeting place; the actual run or walk will be on the Walnut Creek greenway across the street through Centennial Campus. We'll meet at 7 a.m. on June 24 on the restaurant side of the farmers market (look for the pigs and the NCRC feather flag). We'll take a group photo around one of the pigs before heading off for our run or walk. Elizabeth Werner will be our group leader. When we return, we'll have some light refreshments. Many of us will stay for breakfast on the patio of the restaurant. Before you leave the farmers market, pick up some fresh fruit and/or veggies.

2nd Quarter Adopt-a-Highway — Saturday, June 10
Our second quarterly NCRC Adopt-a-Highway cleanup for 2023 has been scheduled for Saturday, June 10. NCRC has been keeping clean the 1-mile stretch of Millbrook Road from Shelley Lake to Creedmoor Road since 2002. We'll meet at 9 a.m. on June 10 in the parking lot of the Sertoma Arts Center on Millbrook Road. Join us for this community service (earn 2 rewards points if you're an NCRC member) and enjoy refreshments and socializing afterward.

Join us for the third and final NCRC race of 2023: the ATT 10-Miler and 4-miler on Oct. 28. This year marks the 16th running of this fall race on the American Tobacco Trail. The start and finish of both the 10-mile and 4-mile courses are at the White Oak Church Road trailhead with the out-and-back courses south of the trailhead.
